Lean-Agile Mindset: A Peek Into the Basis and Development
A Lean-Agile Mindset is the combination of our beliefs, assumptions, and attitudes with an awareness of consequences that influence our actions as leaders and practitioners. A Lean-Agile mindset is one that embraces the concepts of both Lean Thinking and the Agile Manifesto.
Our mindset is the mental lens through which we view the world around us. It is how our brain processes, filters, categorizes, and interprets information. Through a lifetime of structured learning (classes, reading) and unstructured lessons (life events, work experience), our mindsets are forged. Our mindset resides in our subconscious and manifests as deeply held beliefs, attitudes, assumptions, and influences that affect our actions. As such, we are often unaware of how our mindsets influence how we carry out our responsibilities and interact with others.
So what do we do when we need to develop or improve our mindset? We must first gain an awareness of how our current mindset was formed. As Leaders, we must remain open to the possibility that existing mindsets based on traditional practices need to evolve in order to guide us to a new way of thinking to keep pace with changing environments around us to remain competitive in work and life.
In this presentation, we will take a peek into the Lean-Agile mindset including the basis and the development of it. As project management practitioners, we will explore why we need to care about a Lean-Agile mindset. And most importantly, we will discuss what we can do to shift and improve this subconscious mindset to remain relevant and competitive in today’s work environments.
