The amazing team at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) is happy to provide a behind the scenes look at how the Largest Single Day Sporting Event in the World is planned and executed. Hear from members of their operations, security, and sustainability teams on how they utilize project management principles in their preparation and on event day. IMS representatives will show our chapter event management spaces and give an overview of the complexities of planning and executing large scale events.
Please note the tour will take place both inside and outside, so please dress appropriately. There will be lots of walking and the site is fully accessible as well.

David Letherman
Sr. Director of Event Personnel, Safety, and Security
David oversees the Guest Experience, Security, and Sustainability teams for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Brian Mahone
Director of Safety & Security
Brian is a veteran of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and manages projects that include public safety integration, federal agency coordination, and security process and procedures that are implemented during Indianapolis Motor Speedway events.
Logan Waddle
Sustainability Program Leader
Logan is responsible for all sustainability initiatives at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the NTT INDYCAR Series. As a team of one, Logan has done really impressive work to improve the impact that the Indianapolis Motor Speedway venue and the sport has on our earth. This ranges from managing various waste diversion streams, to tracking carbon emissions, to partnering with area organizations to raise awareness for the need for sustainability programs.
Brock Brungard
Sr. Manager of Event Operations
Brock has worked in operations in various capacities since 2017 and is a vital contributor to the department. Brock is responsible for the Guest Experience staff design, venue set-up and teardown, managing the Safety Patrol seasonal staff, and many other details around the operation of Indianapolis Motor Speedway events.
