Indianapolis is looking forward to its most legendary year yet in 2024. Starting with the NBA All-Star 2024, First and Second Rounds of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, and Division I Men’s Swimming & Diving among others, the first half of the year will lead into the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming. For the first time ever, the event will be held in an NFL Stadium. Taking place June 15-23 in Lucas Oil Stadium, downtown will be transformed for nine days of competition, all broadcast in primetime on NBC. More than 1500 athletes will compete for 52 spots on Team USA to travel to Paris for the 2024 Olympics.

In the late 70s, Indianapolis leaders came together to turn “Indiana-no-place” into a city where people would want to live, work, play, and visit. They developed an economic strategy around sports and events, and to help lead the charge, they created the first-ever sports commission – Indiana Sports Corp. More than 500 national and international events later, Indianapolis still stands as one of the top host cities in the country. However, more than 300 sports commissions exist trying to replicate Indy's secret sauce. Hear from Indiana Sports Corp president Patrick Talty about the organization’s mission, how he’s approaching their most legendary year yet in 2024, and what he envisions for the future of the strategy for years to come.

Patrick Talty was elected Indiana Sports Corp President in July 2022. He is the not-for-profit organization’s seventh president since the nation’s first sports commission was founded in 1979. Indiana Sports Corp mission is to create positive impact by hosting world-class sporting events that enhance vibrancy in the community, build civic pride, drive economic impact and media exposure, and encourage opportunities for youth. Prior to being elected president, Talty served as Indiana Sports Corp Chief Operating Officer from October of 2019 until the start of his presidency. Talty was responsible for ISC’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and creating a path for sporting events to resume. This included him helping lead the organization in the hosting of the 2021 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship and the bidding efforts of several premier events that will come to Indy in the future.
