Project Leadership Perspectives: Central Midwest Carpenters Union

Power Skills

Join us for a visit to a simulated site—a training facility dedicated to construction apprenticeship, the Central Midwest Carpenters - Greenwood Campus. One of ten training facilities within Indiana & Kentucky, the Greenwood campus provides training for carpenters, millwright, and floor  coverers. This event combines politics, partnerships, and career growth. Guided by Gavin Gottfried, a foreman, traveling superintendent, and military veteran, Gottfried has over 20 years in the industry, and now serves as an outreach partner for the training center. Whether you're passionate about construction, curious about how public projects come together, or just looking to build relationships with fellow project professionals in a simulated setting—this event is it!

What You’ll Learn:

  • The various trades encompassing carpentry
  • How politics shapes the construction industry and their members’ interests and values through workers' rights, investment in infrastructure and fair trade
  • How the Central Midwest Carpenters Union (CMRCC) collaborates by forging partnerships with contractors, developers, and diverse communities of Brotherhood

PMI-CP Learning Objectives:

  • Apply stakeholder engagement strategies in union-contractor relationships
  • Analyze how political factors influence construction project environments
  • Evaluate partnership models that enhance project resource reliability
  • Develop communication approaches for diverse construction stakeholders
